About The Erriff Fishery

ERRIFF FISHERY - PREMIER LOCATION FOR WILD ATLANTIC SALMON

Situated in a wild and rugged valley in the west of Ireland, the River Erriff and surrounding area is bound to take your breath away. It is a premier location for fishing wild Atlantic salmon. The River Erriff is renowned as a salmon fishery, with regular guests returning year after year to experience the wonderful fishing in these stunning surroundings. The fishery is comprised of the Erriff River and the two lakes of Tawnyard and Derrintin. These waters are flourishing with Salmon, Brown Trout and Sea Trout. A spate river, the Erriff is characterised by lively streams and deep fish-holding pools. It has 8 miles of prime angling water, divided into 9 beats, which are rotated amongst anglers on a daily basis. Fishing is uncrowded with only two rods on most beats, and a maximum of 3 on the remainder.

AASLEAGH LODGE - GREAT FISHING HOUSE OF IRELAND

The fishery is situated on the grounds of Aasleagh Lodge, one of the Great Fishing Houses of Ireland. The Lodge is an elegant Victorian country house situated on the banks of the Erriff River and the world famous Aasleagh Falls amidst 36 acres of mature woodland. It consists of 9 Bedrooms, including 8 en-suite and 1 standard room. There is wheelchair access to the lodge. The Dining Room is situated on the ground floor and the Lounge is situated on the first floor - it is comfortably furnished with an open peat fire kindled each evening creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. There is central heating throughout and the power showers and soft water are refreshing and rejuvenating. The lodge was renovated in 2001 to a luxurious standard, with modern facilities, while still retaining its old world character. It is fully approved by Failte Ireland. Each bedroom is uniquely designed, incorporating period furniture and tasteful decor. The sought after Killary suite has breathtaking views over Killary Fjord and the surrounding mountains. The tranquillity of the location ensures a good night’s sleep. A short walk through the grounds brings you to the famous Aasleagh Falls, an internationally famous waterfall on the Erriff River, where silver salmon can be seen leaping as they make their way upstream.

AASLEAGH SELF-CATERING COTTAGES

Aasleagh Cottages are spacious cottages situated at the top of the Killary Fjord with unrivalled views of the sea and surrounding mountains. The cottages are built on the Aasleagh Estate with direct access to the Erriff River, Aasleagh Falls and Aasleagh Lodge. The Cottages are spacious, comfortable and finished to an approved 4 star quality rating. They are equipped with timber fires, two ensuite bedrooms, lounge, kitchen and a large dining area. HISTORY OF THE FISHERY & LODGE

Once owned by the Marquis of Sligo, Aasleagh Lodge & Erriff Fishery were bought in their entirety by the State and managed by the Central Fisheries Board. By February 2000, the fishery and lodge were transferred to the Western Regional Board with a major refurbishment programme to be carried out. In 2015, the opportunity arose for local businesses and groups to let and manage Aasleagh Lodge & Erriff Fishery. Delphi Resort, situated just 8km from the property, were delighted to accept the opportunity to add Aasleagh Lodge & Erriff Fishery to their portfolio of 2 accommodation properties and 20+ outdoor activities.

Since May 2015, Delphi Resort has taken over the management of the lodge and fishery, appointing its own team of hospitality and angling professionals.
